The Ohana Group is an Event & Wedding Company that provides all aspects and services needed for your special occasion. We deliver our expertise throughout the Sunshine Coast and across Queensland. “Ohana” the Hawaiian word for family and a concept that we are together and remember one another.

Director & Executive Chef

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan was born in Sydney and grew up on the Sunshine Coast and later finished school in the Northern Rivers of NSW. He decided to move back up to the Sunshine Coast when he was 16. Ryan Started his apprenticeship at Sails restaurant Noosa 15 years ago under current head chef Paul Leete (Il Centro). Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Ryan worked at the then, Noosa Institute, Berardos (Bruno Loubet, Shaun Morris) where he was approached by George Calombaris during a Food & Wine Festival Event, to come work at The Press Club (Melbourne) and he graciously accepted the offer. At the time The Press Club attained 2 chef hats and had numerous amounts of awards under its belt. Ryan’s passion for Mediterranean cuisine grew and so did his curiosity to travel.

After a short stint in Melbourne he was fortunate enough to obtain a job as a private chef in Morzine, French Alps where he would cook privately for families and corporate clients in a luxury chalet hosting 26 guests. During the summer Ryan worked in Portugal, South of France, Greece and Spain for other luxury villa companies and yachts for celebrities, sports stars and businessmen. After Two and a half years away, he decided to move back to Noosa and to take on the Head Chef role at Berardos On the Beach.

Ryan and his team took the sleepy Bistro and produced clean and contemporary bistro dishes. Some of his team, later, went to open other hatted restaurants and win numerous accolades like young chef of the year and restaurant of the year. As Ryan’s eagerness to learn more grew, he decided to take the position of Sous Chef at Ricky’s River Bar & Restaurant where he was under, then, Glenn Bowman (Alegria, The Edge). Glenn’s extensive knowledge of Spanish cuisine and appreciation of finer premium ingredients gave Ryan a sense of drive to cook and create dishes using premium produce.

While Ryan was in France, he really loved the idea of working on the water, this was a goal of his. After 3 years at Ricky’s, Ryan’s desire to work on the Superyachts was met. He obtained a head chef role on a brand new 48m Sail Yacht, Encore. Here Ryan travelled extensively through Fiji, Hawaii and other Pacific Nations for 6 years. With the abundance of fresh seafood, meats and produce, Ryan was constantly creating new dishes and never producing the same dish twice for guests. Working closely with villagers, locals and producers he was able to obtain knowledge of lesser known produce and its application. His curiosity for foraging and using produce that others do not use became his passion. After 6 years and 10s of thousands of sea miles under his belt he decided to reside back in Australia and start something of his own, The Ohana Group.

Director & Head Planner/ Stylist

Rashi Devendra

Our events, and styling team is headed by Rashi Devendra who has more than 10 years experience in the weddings and event styling, coordination and planning.

Rashi was born in Lautoka city, Fiji Islands. She attended Namosau Methodist primary school and went on to Xavier college to complete her high school education. She was then given a scholarship to further her studies as a High School Teacher (PEMAC). 

She grew up helping her parents setup functions which is why Rashi is very hands on with Styling, designing and floristry. Rashi aims  to make every wedding & event as unique as possible by custom making countless stunning props, arbors, mandap etc. Her creative flair, attention to detail, efficiency and industry experience have seen her in the role of director, senior stylist and florist of Dreamz Wedding Planner for a decade. Her specialty is destination and cultural weddings, having been involved in weddings held on Denarau island, Fiji, and her experience has resulted in her being the preferred supplier for resorts such as Sheraton, Westin, Hilton, Sofitel and The Yacht Club – the Rhum Ba.

While working and living in Nadi, Rashi met her partner Ryan who worked on Super yachts at that time. It wasn’t long before they both realised that their talents complimented each other and that’s how the ‘The Ohana Group’ was born.

Rashi has been able to grow and broaden her knowledge and skills since she moved here as there is a wider range of flowers and materials to work with here compared to Fiji. She excels in personalising all aspects of weddings and events so that your occasion is stylish, authentic and unforgettable.
